Park native producing Dan

Former Sherwood Park resident Paul Mather is off in Ontario producing, creating and writing on the television show Dan For Mayor.

The second season premiered June 5 on CTV at 5:30 p.m. Dan for Mayor has shifted from the serial, soap-opera format to an episode-based comedy now that Dan Phillips (Fred Ewanuick) landed the mayor gig he’s completely unprepared for.

Mayor Dan’s not so far from latest Parliament

When Mark Farrell — along with Kevin White and Paul Mather — came up with the character of Dan Phillips, who accidentally winds up as Mayor of Wessex on the CTV comedy series Dan for Mayor, they thought they might be stretching the bounds of credulity.

But after the May 2 federal election in which a large crop of very green politicians were elected, the story doesn’t seem as far-fetched, says Halifax native Farrell.
